My parents have come to visit me in Houston!
They came once last year, but their visit was cut short by a few things: 1) they both had to get back to work and 2) we were driving all the way back to New Jersey together. That was last May. It was a big trip--we traveled for 3 days (although I argued we should do it in 2 like I did when I moved down here), and me, baby, and Daddy stayed in New Jersey for 3 weeks! Well, actually me and baby stayed for 3 weeks....Daddy had been on a rig for a week when we left for NJ and stayed out there for 2 more weeks! He finally met up with us in NJ just in time for his graduation from Rutgers with his PhD! It was an important and memorable trip for us!
But more on what we're doing today! It stinks that every time I have visitors here, the weather seems to not want to cooperate! At the beginning of this week, it was super warm! Great weather! Sunny, highs in the 70s! I was walking around in t-shirts! IN JANUARY! OUTSIDE! This is a novel concept for New Jersians...and one that I wanted my family to experience. But, of course, we are experiencing lower temperatures today (highs in the 50s) and heavy rain with wind. Blah. Not really a good day for traveling around the city!

Just look at that rain. Well, I guess I should just be happy that we aren't a little further west and experiencing SNOW! I thought that I would miss snow...um, no, no I don't. But I know I will have to take my little one to see it sometime. She'll probably love it and condemn me for moving her away from it. Well, too bad! I'm going to enjoy the warm weather here and wear my flip flops until my toes freeze off. Which will be never. Because I live in Houston!
So, the big plan for today is to visit the Museum of Natural Science to see the Hall of Paleontology and maybe the Hall of Gems. Maybe. My dad hates being in the car when other people are driving and I think that rain traffic will make him crazy. It isn't too far to downtown from our apartment, but it may just far enough for him to connipt. Well, I'll post a follow-up either later today or tomorrow to let you know how it went in this torrential rain!
I'll just keep reminding myself...at least it isn't snow!
